Major doings this week.

First of all, Monday afternoon I was still at home in San Diego, sitting there at the computer surreptitiously checking out my regular blogs, when I strolled onto Zoot’s site. Hrm, I check out the upper right hand corner. New link! (I’m obsessed with links) Ooh, and it’s a book drive, neat.

*clicky*

Oh, pamie.com, I haven’t been here in a while. La, la, la, yea for Oakland Public, scrolly scrolly, this year’s system --

Holy shit.

San Diego County Libraries

Ahhhh! That’s the system my mom works for. That’s the system I’ve worked for the last two summers. Mom is going to croak. I wonder if she knows about this.

She did not.

When I told her she began running around the room squealing and exclaiming “Oh my god!” at regular intervals. This is such a windfall for the library system. They’ve been worried for months now about proposed closures, staff lay offs, and a book budget of practically nothing.

So if you have a little extra cash and are feeling philanthropic check out the pamie.com book drive.

If you scroll down you can see the links to all the wishlists. Might I suggest donations to Alpine or Jacumba? They’re seriously in need.

Other (non-book related) doings this weekend included the incredible sprucing up of our apartment by Saara and I.

Improvements include:

* A papasan (basket) chair for the living room ... so comfortable.

* a new welcome mat for the front door.

* new seriously nice, double paned, almost painfully shiny windows for our whole complex, courtesy of the landlord

* Book shelves in Anne’s room in place of what was previously simply a very large pile of books ... on the floor.

* An outdoor balcony garden, comprised of the cutest hanging ivy ever and some potted miniature roses on a cart

* Two rather flamboyant cacti on the coffee table

* a new and improved greenhouse herb garden.

And it only took three (four?) trips down to the same shopping center in the same day (we had trouble remembering everything on our lists.)

I’m feeling so cosmopolitan right now. Our apartment is all spiffy and it has plants, which shoots it right to the top of the IV scale, as far as apartment improvements go.

The weekend of high productiveness concluded with great homemade cooking when Saara whipped up some pesto chicken on rice and I made ... sloppy joes ... without the buns.

Hrm, maybe I should leave that last part off and just pretend we all ate pesto chicken.

Ah well, we may be improved but we are still college students.

And I like sloppy joes.

The fact that I just walked upstairs and saw one of my new housemates standing on her desk chair slowly revolving in circles for no apparent reason.
